Delivering High Comfort Mechanical Systems for a Modern Aged Care Facility

Beattie Air was engaged to provide the full mechanical services installation for the newly constructed Aged Care Facility in Merivale, Christchurch. The building offers a wide range of amenities for residents, including a pool and spa, gym, changing rooms, library, lounge, and other communal leisure areas. Ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient indoor comfort was essential for the well-being of residents and staff.

Scope of Works

Beattie Air completed the following supply and installation works:

AC VRF System
Providing efficient heating and cooling across resident rooms, communal areas, and facility spaces.

Hydronic Make-Up Air Heating System
A specialised system integrated with the pool water heating infrastructure to deliver consistent and efficient air heating for the aquatic and wellness areas.

European-Sourced Air Handling Units
High performance air handling units were procured and installed, requiring close coordination with overseas suppliers to manage lead times and ensure timely delivery to site.

Heat Recovery Ventilation System
Maintaining fresh air quality while reducing energy consumption throughout the building.

Project Coordination

Beattie Air worked collaboratively with the consulting engineers, subcontractors, and the wider construction team to deliver the project within a compressed construction programme. Coordination between mechanical, structural, and architectural teams was essential to maintain quality and minimise disruptions as the building neared completion.

Project Outcome

The mechanical systems were delivered to a high standard, meeting the specific performance, safety, and comfort requirements of a modern aged care environment. Despite strict programme pressures, all works were completed ahead of the Christmas deadline, allowing the client to progress smoothly into the final occupancy and commissioning phases.
